He was married to Merle Coalter, his wife of 59 years, who passed in 2005. He was the inaugural president of Orlando SKAL, and was a devoted member of Winter Park United Methodist Church. Born in Newport News, VA, Jack was the youngest child of William P. Coalter and Margaret Eken Coalter, His wife and daughter, Joyce Ann, predeceased him. Survivors include his children: Jackie Coalter Slatkow and her husband Andrew; grandchildren Stephanie and Peter O'Grady and Matthew Slatkow and great-grandson Dylan O'Grady.
