Jim was the son of Francis "Frank" Philip Kearney and Bridget Irwin (an Irish immigrant). His father died in 1941 and he stayed with his mother until her death in 1953.
He was engaged to a nurse but she died a few months before their wedding so Jim did not marry until the age of 39.
He married Coma Pearl (McLemore) Haugh in Feb of 1958 and became a grandfather in Oct of 1958. He was a great father to Coma's 2 daughters and a wonderful grandfather to 5 grandchildren. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America due to his grandsons. He is missed every day.
