Ruth was born on April 18, 1919, in Havre, Mont., the daughter of Haakon and Anna Tangmo, immigrants from Norway. Ruth's mother, Anna, died when Ruth was only three years old, and the family of seven children were split apart to be raised by various family members. Ruth and her younger sister, Anne, were taken in by her uncle and aunt, Carl and Inga Lager, where she was raised as part of their family. In doing so, Ruth and Anne were considered real siblings of the Lager family. She was married to Donald Nash on April 7, 1942 in Havre, Montana. They opened the first store and gas station in Hungry Horse and later built a home in Columbia Falls where they resided until Don's death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Tangmo, Art Tangmo, Ed Tangmo, her twin, Raymond Tangmo, Oliver and Melvin Lager; sisters, Mildred Tangmo Bergum, Evelyn Lager, Nora Lager Barfoot, Amiee Lager Thorp, and Bernice Lager Martin. She was survived by a son; a daughter; a sister; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Ruth “went to be with her Lord and Savior” on Dec. 22, 2012, in Kalispell, Montana.
