GREENSBORO - Mr. Walter Lee Chambers, Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
A life long resident of Guilford County, Mr. Chambers was born on September 10, 1925, son of the late Robert D. Chambers, Sr. and Felda Whit worth Chambers. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and retired from Proctor Gamble in 1988. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grand dad.
Survivors include a son, Lee Chambers and wife Debbie and daughter, Brenda C. Moore and husband Tommy both of McLeansville; three grandchildren, Scott Chambers and wife Cristina of Miami, Fl., David Chambers and wife Caitlin of Boston, Ma and Christopher Whitesell and wife Marlene of Burlington; three great grandchildren, Liyah Whitesell, Antonia Whitesell and Ethan In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene "Peggy" Tucker Chambers and a sister, Maude Samsel.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of his son, Lee.
