Lorene Beck House, 87, died suddenly in Jacksonville, FL, Friday, January 12, 2001. She was born in Cassville, MO, October 10, 1913, to Clarence A. and Esther Ash Beck. She lived in Kansas City from 1940 until 1995 when she moved to Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. House was a homemaker, real estate salesperson and was very active in community affairs. She lead a successful effort by the Blue Valley Neighborhood Association in 1978 to save Fire Station 27, served on the City Planning Commission and the Property Maintenance Appeals Board from 1984 until 1991. She was a member of the Board of Managers of the Whatsoever Community Center and served as President of the board from 1991 until 1994. Her husband, Wayne House Sr., and her son, Stephen Allen House, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Wayne House Jr. (Mary), Jacksonville, FL, daughter-in-law, Deanna House Lauer, State College, PA; sister, Alberta McKinney Fecrist, Concord, CA; and sisters-in-law, Thelma House, Cassville, MO, Cleo House, Exeter, MO, and Delma Faye House, Houston, TX. She is also survived by granddaughters, Stephanie Schmidt (Robert), State College, PA, Mary Beth Singh (R. Nicholas), Potomac, MD, Nancy House, Washington, D.C., and Barbara Estrin (Michael), Nashville, TN; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2001, at Earp and Sons Chapel of Charter Funerals, 5000 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Kansas City, MO 64133, with Rev. Paul Yarnall officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO. Visitation will be in the chapel from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 18. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Whatsoever Community Center, 1201 Ewing, Kansas City, MO 64126.
