ACCIDENT OF TWO ST. JUST MINERS IN COLORADO
taken from The Cornishman (Penzance) Thursday 12 August 1880
On Friday, July 15 at Bald Mountain, we had an accident in which two St. Just men were severely injured, but we hope not dangerously. After dinner they were descending the mine in a bucket (as is the custom in this place) when some ground or rock fell on them. One had his arm broken badly between the elbow and shoulder, and the other was cut badly about the head and face. The doctor was soon in attendance, and set the broken limb and fixed up the scalp wounds, and the next morning the good news was heard that they were doing favourably.
The two injured men are Richard Watters. formerly of Trewellard and Charles Henry Ellis of , formerly of Pendeen.

Nevadaville, Colorado – Another Gilpin County Ghost Town. Nevadaville, Colorado, an old mining town in Gilpin County, was yet another settlement that got its start in Gregory Gulch at the same time as Black Hawk and Central City in 1859. After John H. Gregory followed Clear Creek into the area and found gold, miners flowed in by the thousands, first establishing Central City. On its heels, Nevadaville was established a couple of miles above Central City and was first called Nevada City. However, when the community gained a post office it was called Bald Mountain to avoid confusion with other Nevadas and Nevadavilles.
