(1876 - 1953)

Joseph L. Radey, 78, of 1205 Franklin St., Manitowoc, retired county tavern keeper, died Saturday night at Milwaukee General Hospital, following a lingering illness. For the past year and a half he had been residing with a daughter, Mrs. Steve Fote, in Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Alfred Pritzl will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Radey was born in Kellnersville in 1876 and in 1907 married Miss Anna Seidel(sic). He operated a tavern at Branch for 20 years and 18 years ago moved to Manitowoc. Mrs. Radey died in 1952.

Survivors are 11 daughters, son, Gordon of San Diego; two brothers, Frank of Rt. 5, Manitowoc and Emil of Green Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Stangel of Kewaunee and Mrs. Anna Ginzel of Manitowoc; 30 grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
