GRIEF OVER DEATH OF FATHER CAUSES DEATH OF JOHN RADL
North Side Barber Found Dead in His Room Today, Had Brooded Over Recent Death of Parent

Grief over the death of his father a month ago and worry because his mother was ill, is believed to have been responsible for the death early today of John Radl, a north side barber whose dead body was found in his room at the Radl home shortly after 8.

Mr. Radl had used a strap which he had placed about a bed post and had strangled. He had been dead some time when found.

Mr. Radl who was forty three years of age and had always made his home in this city, residing with his parents, had been deeply affected by the death of his father, the late Joseph Radl and had grieved himself ill. This, coupled with worry over the ill health of his mother, is believed to have been responsible for his condition and act.

Working as usual yesterday at the Tardy shop, where he was employed, Mr. Radl retired early and was heard about the house at five this morning.
Three hours later when he had failed to appear and was called there was no response and when the room was entered the dead body was found.

Mr. Radl had been engaged in the barber business here for many years, having learned his trade in the shop of George Bean and later conducting his own business on York and Eighth streets. He disposed of his business because of ill health but later was employed with Henry Tardy, a position which he had held for a number of years. Mr. Radl was a student of economic questions, pronounced in his views and had attracted to himself considerable attention for his ideas. With opportunities afforded many others in youth John Radl would undoubtedly have been one of the brilliant men of the community. He was unafraid to enunciate and hold to his principles and one of the bits of literature which he gave study was the congressional record and he was probably as well posted on what was doing in Congress and in legislation in the land as anyone in the city.

Besides his mother, Mr. Radl is survived by four brothers and four sisters all residing here.
