LOUIS RANK, SR., PASSES AWAY AT MILWAUKEE
Pioneer Settler Here Had Been Seriously Ill Two Weeks
Death came to Louis Rank, Sr., a former resident of this city, after a two weeks illness, the end coming this morning at 9 o’clock at Marquette Clinic where he was a patient. The body will be brought here Thursday morning and taken to the home of his son, Louis, Jr., 1518 Washington street and funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery.
Louis Rank was born at Friedrichsthal, Austria, November 25, 1847 and had passed his seventy-seventh birthday. He came to this country with his parents in 1851 and the family settled in the town of Franklin where deceased was married to Catherine Svacina in 1876 (sic). She preceded him in death seventeen years ago.
Located here in ‘84.
In 1876 Mr. Rank moved to Brillion where he remained until 1884 when he moved to this city where for many years he conducted the Waverly hotel, now the Lake Side Tire shop, on South Tenth Street. Seven years ago he sold his interests and moved to Waukesha to make his home with his daughter and moved with her and the family to Milwaukee two years ago. The daughter died last year and Mr. Rank leaves surviving him two daughters, Mrs. Anna Naus of Waukesha, and Mrs. Katie Mongan, Milwaukee, and three sons, John and Joseph of Milwaukee and Louis, Jr., of this city.
Mr. Rank was a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and during his residence here was active in the organization.
