Mark E. Rathsack, age 79, of 1308 Flambeau St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, January 17, 1996, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 1996, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Manitowoc Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Carl Meulmans with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

He was born October 7, 1916, in Glen Flora, Wis., son of the late Joseph M. and Magdalen Smuggler Rathsack. He graduated from Ladysmith High School with the class of 1933. In his youth, he worked on the family farm in Glen Flora, Wis., As a young man he moved to Manitowoc to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He married the former Adele Brockbank September 3, 1941, in Ladysmith, Wis. Mark served with the Railway Transportation Corp in World War II from 1942 until 1945. Mark worked as a switchman and yard foreman at the Northwestern for 35 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of the VFW Otto Oas Post #659 and the Manitowoc Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Adele Rathsack, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Nona Rathsack, Park Ridge, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sara Ann and Larry Rosson, Vancouver, Wash., Mary Lee Rathsack and Robert Jagemann, Manitowoc; three grandchildren, Chad and Hiedi Daul, Vancouver, Wash., Frances Mary and Catherine Adele Rathsack Jagemann; a sister-in-law, Florence Rathsack, Ludington, Mich. Also surviving are special nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel, William, and Robert, and two sisters, Florence and Susan.

Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Friday where a prayer service will be held. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Catholic Church.

Mark was a loving, wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and was a friend to many pets. Mark found pleasure and comfort in the company of relatives and friends.
