Manitowoc Student Dies in Collision

MANITOWOC -
John T. Rohde, 27, of 1702 Western Ave., Manitowoc, a senior at Stout State University, Menomonie, Wis., was killed in a collision at 3:51 p.m. Friday enroute home for the weekend. The accident occurred about four miles west of Wausau when a car turned into the path of the auto he was driving, according to Marathon County authorities.

Rohde was born Aug. 7, 1940, at Manitowoc, son of the late Walter A. and Mrs. Geraldine Green Rohde. He was graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc in 1958 and served from 1958 until 1962 as a petty officer, second class and naval electronic electrician. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc County Center for two years and then transferred to Stout.

Funeral Tuesday
Survivors include the mother; a sister, Miss Alyce Janet, of Skokie, Ill., and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Clara Green, of Manistee, Mich.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Rev. Martin Fox will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
