Visitation will be Friday, September 20, 2019, from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs followed by the funeral at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Jake was born March 12, 1932, in Belle, MO. He is the son of the late Alva William and the late Gladys Dora (Basham) Backues. He married Mary Jane Pennington on July 22, 1950 to whom he was married for 52 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Pennington) Backues on August 31, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robbie Backues on March 14, 2018.
Jake loved his family and friends, especially loved having them over for fish fries and gatherings. He enjoyed watching the Chief’s games and listening and watching country music shows. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by two sons: Roger Backues and Kirby Backues; two brothers: Marvin Backues and Melvin Backues; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
