NEWPORT NEWS - Dolly A. Petty died at her home in Hilton Village on Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Petty Sr.; her son, J. B. Petty Jr.; and her grandson, Bart Petty III. She is survived by her daughters, Joan P. Young of Petersburg and Lynn P. Prillaman of Newport News; a brother, Lou Alexander, and his wife, Garnett, of Hampton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends left to cherish her memory also. She was an avid gardener, friend to all animals, and a beautiful lady that will truly be missed. There will be a graveside service conducted by her grandson-in-law, Rev. Larry King, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a no-kill animal shelter or organization such as the Animal Aid Society, P.O. Box 1865, Grafton, VA 23692, or The Cat Corner, 85 Fulton Street, Hampton, VA 23663. Arrangements by W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
