My Memories of Uncle John Dodson - by William 'Bill' Burdette

John Calhoun Dodson was one of Sophronia Elizabeth [Dodson] Cabe's (my maternal grandmother) brothers. Uncle John was not married during the time I can remember (from the mid 1940s 'till his death). He used to visit my parents home on a regular basis for as long as I can remember. He loved to play on our family piano and sing (not very well)when he came. He lived in the College Park, GA area.

Information from my mother shows that Uncle John Dodson was married twice, once to a Pearl (or Pearle) Mace (or Mason). They had one child named Mae who married a Zera Cooper and had three children, Randall, Wayne and Melba. They list Pearl's death and burial at Pavo, Thomas County, GA. It is not known if she was married or divorced at the time of her death. A search of cemeteries in Pavo shows no results.

Uncle John's second marriage was to a Omie West. The had no children. We have no further information on Omie.
