Mr. Gwen R. Deakle - A native and lifelong resident of Bayou la Batre died Wednesday, April 8, 1987 in a local hospital. A Navy veteran of WWII, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lois J. Deakle of Bayou La Batre; one son, Edward Roland Deakle of Palm Harbor, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie L. Hale of Grand Bay and Mrs. Wendy R. Ryan of Mobile; a mother, Mrs. Anna Bosarge; a brother, Robert Deakle both of Bayou la Batre; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Howard of Bayou la Batre, Margie Sullivan of San Antonio, TX and Mrs. Dot Carruth of Ellisville, MS. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at Grand Bay United Methodist Church with Rev. George Turnipseed officiating. The family will receive friends at their home and suggest that in lieu of flowers, friends make contributions to the Grand Bay United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
