Betty's parents were Hubert Charles Ferris and Anabel Allen Markoe. Her father built and repaired pipe organs.

She was married to Leo Frederick Basore 21 September 1929 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. They had a daughter Patricia Louise born on 28 Jan 1931 - apparently she died.

Her second husband was Coert Dubois Van de Carr a career military man in the Marines. They had two sons: Norman Alward and David Allen. She divorced and married Lyndon Thomas Baldwin. Her two sons took on the Baldwin name. Lyndon was a widower and had two sons as well - Lyndon Thomas Baldwin Jr. and Byron Keith Baldwin. Betty and Lyndon had one daughter Lynda Jean.

In her youth Betty studied fashion design and pattern making. She attended an art school, but at this time the name is not known. She was a talented seamstress and designer. In her later years she worked at a florist shop and was known for her lovely floral designs.
