Mrs. Alex T. (Helen) Becker, 73, of 1907 Hamilton St., Manitowoc, died Friday morning, March 24, 1989 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Monday at St. Mary Catholic church, Manitowoc, preceded by brief family rites at 1 pm at Reinbold-Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Mrs. Becker was born December 21, 1915 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Mary Ziarnik Becker. She grew up and was educated at Manitowoc, attending St. Mary Catholic School. Mrs. Becker was employed at Holy Family Hospital in the Dietary Department for 21 years, retiring in 1975. She married Leon R. Novak August 23, 1937 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death in 1971. She then married Alex T. Becker July 11, 1975 at St. John Catholic Church, Village of St. John. Mrs. Becker was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Rosary and Altar Society. Helen enjoyed cards, traveling, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Alex; children surviving include Richard and Shirley Novak, Wayne and Mary Novak of Sheboygan, Karen and Jan Tuesburg of Manitowoc, Ronald and Cathy Becker of Long Beach, California, Robert and Mary Becker of Garden Grove, California, Sylvia and Bill South of Long Beach, California and Carol and David Ordos of Seattle, Washington; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Mrs. Frances Frozena, Mrs. Marie Denk, Mrs. Valeria Tadych, Mrs. Clara Osleczanek of Manitowoc, Dorothy and Walter Erickson of Tucson, Arizona; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, John, a daughter, Nancy, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral home, Manitowoc, 4 pm to 8 pm Sunday and on Monday from 10 am to 1 pm. The St. Mary Rosary and Altar Society will say a rosary at 4:30 pm and a prayer service will be 7 pm Sunday.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
