DEAD BODY IN RIVER SOLVES MYSTERY OF MAN'S DISAPPEARANCE JOHN BURETTA, CITY LABORER, IS FOUND DEAD AT FOOT OF SO. ELEVENTH STREET EARLY TODAY

Discovery of the dead body of John Buretta in the river at the foot of Eleventh street early this morning solved the mystery of Buretta's disappearance from his home at 1129 South Twenty-Third street early Tuesday morning and ended the search which the police, at request of relatives, have been making for the man. Buretta's body was found at 4:30 this morning by John Kennedy when he visited the docks at Eleventh street, preparatory to work for the day. Whether Buretta committed suicide or accidentally walked off the dock, is not known and will probably remain a mystery, though the police are inclined to the suicide theory.

Buretta's body was taken in charge by Urbanek & Wattawa and removed to the undertaking establishment and was taken to the home this afternoon. Burial will probably be held Saturday though no definite date has been decided upon.

While no cause can be assigned by relatives for suicide, the fact that the body of Buretta when found was without shoes or stockings and that the man had evidently proceeded direct from his home to the river, supports the suicide theory. It is said that Buretta, whose wife was absent from home, had some differences with his son Monday night and that the man had shown anger. It is possible that this trouble may have prompted his act. It is said that the man was seen in Washington park early Tuesday morning, but this is not confirmed.

Buretta was employed by the city and had been a street worker for some years. He was a man of about 60 and is survived by a widow and family of grown children.

No inquest will be held. The body was taken to the home this afternoon.

Funeral services for the late John Buretta, whose body was found in the river Thursday morning, were held today.

Friends believe that Buretta's death was due to accident and not suicide and say that Mr. Buretta had been ill for some time.

The Herald was in error in saying that the body when taken from the river was without shoes or stockings. Buretta wore stockings and a pair of house slippers.
