Anna “Nannie” Check
Anna “Nannie” Check, age 84, formerly of 1407 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, December 19, 1996, at St. Mary’s Home, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 9”30 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 1996, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M. with burial to follow at St. Mary Church Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born July 26, 1912, in Portage County, daughter of the late O’Nufrey and Rosalia Wanta Kruzicki. On May 29, 1929, she married Frank R. Check Sr. in Polonia, Wis. After their marriage the couple made their home in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death December 13, 1975. Mrs. Check was a member of the St. Mary Rosary and Altar Society.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank and Joyce Check, Francis Creek, Stanley Check, Manitowoc; three daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Marie Kleman, Marlene and Donald Christensen, Carol Konop, all of Manitowoc; 17 grandchildren, Mary Koch, Jeanne Holmer, Laurie Hoopman, Rob Kleman, Gail Wegner, Jeff Check, Jim Check, Mark Check, Daniel Christensen, David Christensen, Timothy Christensen, Thomas Christensen, Lisa Neuenfeldt, Heidi Naibert, Amy Eckley, Christopher Konop, Nicole Konop; 22 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Basil and Frances Kruzicki, Shiocton; three sisters, Angeline Malek, Manitowoc, Isabelle Sigmund, Manitowoc, Theresa Rydzewski, Cudahy; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Helen) Check, Manitowoc, Leonard Check, Custer, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Tillie (Stanley) Blarek, Brokaw, Wis., Bernice (Chester) Bembenek, Stevens Point; other special relatives, Leonard Check, Milwaukee, Sally Check, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, two infant grandchildren, one granddaughter, Elizabeth Check, two sons-in laws, John Konop and Robert Kleman, a daughter-in-law, Leatrice Check, two brothers, six sisters, four brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. by Deacon Robert Drobka.

"Our mom’s life was devoted to her family. The joy of her life was her husband and children. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her deepest treasure. Their presence made her day and it showed in her smile. She will forever be affectionately known as Nannie.
She shared her love and compassion not just with her family but with all the lives she touched.
Mamma, we know that you are smiling with Jesus whom you love so much. You will be sadly missed by all who love you."
