Holy Name Rites for Marie Gossens, 80
Mrs. Joe Gossens, nee Marie Van Lieshout, formerly of 121 S. Walnut Street, Kimberly, age 80, died Thrusday, November 11, at Parkside Carecenter, Little Chute.
She was born September 12, 1913, in Combined Locks, the daughter of the late Francis and Mayme (Van Heeswyk) Van Lieshout. Marie married Joe Gossens in 1934.
Marie was on the Board of Peabody Manor and was very active in area Girl Scouts, Lady Forester, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Catholic War Vets, Homemakers, Ladies of Holy Name, Religion Education teacher, past president of St. Elizabeth Auxiliary and Boy Scouts, She loved sports and was a member of Fox Valley Golf Club and was Ladied Club Champion. She was Woman of the Year in 1974 of N.E.W.G.A. She also enjoyed bridge. She was known for her fish fries at Holy Name and at Fox Valley Golf Course. She was a member of Holy name Catholic Church.
When her mother died in 1941, Marie and Joe raised six of her sisters and brothers.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia and a brother, Jack.
The funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. Burial was in Holy Name Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Guy Gossens, Steve Gossens, Adam Gossens, Korey Manly, Jeff Locy, Doug Erdmann and Luke Lamers.
A memorial fund hass been established in her name. The Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, Kimberly, assisted the family with the arrangements.
