Reeves C. Jungkind, age 86 of Llano, Texas, surrounded by his family went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.

Born in Pontotoc, Texas on August 9, 1927. Graduated from Burnet High School in 1945. Reeves served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948, being honorably discharged as a Corporal. Graduated from the DPS Academy at Camp Mabry in 1953, becoming a Texas Highway Patrolman posted in Wharton, Texas. After 14 years, he became the Firearms Training Officer and Pistolsmith at the DPS Academy in Austin, retiring in 1992 as a Staff Lieutenant. He then held a Special Texas Ranger Commission.

He was a Life Member of both the National Rifle Association, in which he was a former member of the NRA Board of Directors and the Texas State Rifle Association, in which he was the past President from 1985 – 1986. He was a member of the TSRA Executive Council and previously served as the Director in the Police Pistol Division. He was a Life Member and Charter Member on the advisory board in the Police Marksman Association. He was also a member of the Texas Police Association.

Reeves was a custom Pistolsmith, specializing in the Colt Python. He holds or shares 17 National records in Police Combat Pistol Competition, Distinguished. He was the Texas State Champion 3 times. He held many shooting exhibitions and gun safety talks. He graduated from the Firearms Administrators School at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.

Reeves was inducted into the Texas Highway Patrol Hall of Fame on November 5, 2005.

He is survived by his wife Lila of Llano; sons Dr. Donald Jungkind and wife Kim of Horseshoe Bay, Eric Jungkind and wife Cheryl of Fort Worth and stepson Greg Culp and wife Delynn of Glen Rose. He has grandsons David, Jon Eric and Daniel and step grandson David, granddaughters Jan and Rachel and step granddaughters Rebekah and Miriam and great grandchildren Max, Haley, Levi and step great grandchild Madelynn and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel, 307 E. Sandstone, Llano, Texas. Family visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. also in the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials of Reeves can be made to a charity of your choice.
