Joan L. Swoboda, age 84, a life long resident of Manitowoc, died on Monday, October 15, 2012 in Burlington, WI.
Jo was born on April 7, 1928, to the late Ray and Emily (Trochlell) Krysan in Manitowoc. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1946. On September 15, 1951, she married Donald J. Swoboda at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1988.
Jo was employed at Holy Family Hospital for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, world traveling, Bible study and needlepoint. She was a Meals-On-Wheels volunteer for many years. Jo took great joy in her great grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Dona and Gary Stanull, Eagan, MN; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Robert and Lenore Swoboda, Burlington, WI and Tim and Joy Swoboda, Gurnee, IL; five grandchildren: Ben and his wife Anne Swoboda, Henry Swoboda, Laura Swoboda, Jennifer Stanull, and Kate Swoboda; and two great grandchildren: William and Robert. Jo is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Krysan and William Krysan; and one sister: Anna Mae Pick.
Funeral services for Jo will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall.
Memorials may be made to Roncalli High School, Manitowoc.
