MELCHER F. GAUTHIER
Melcher F. (Mell) Gauthier, 64, of 1716 W. Park St. Two Rivers, a longtime downtown Two Rivers businessman, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on arrival at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital Saturday night.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Deja and Martin Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, the Rev. Earl Brouchoud officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.
Mr. Gauthier was born March 30, 1903, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Ervin and Delia Burkart Gauthier. He attended Two Rivers elementary schools and early in his life was employed at the former F. H. Zermuehlen grocery on the city’s east side.Twenty years later he established his own grocery store on Adams Street. After 12 years he took over the operation of the former bus station on Washington treet.For the past 10 years he had been an employe of the Hamilton Mfg. Co. Mr. Gauthier was a past grand night of the Mother of Hope Council No. 1957. Knights of Columbus, and served as recording secretary of the organization for many ears.He was a member of St. Luke Holy Name Society.
Besides his wife, the former Lillian Lodl, whom he married June 29, 1926 at Two Rivers, he leaves a son, Allan of Manitowoc; three brothers, George and Ben, both of Two Rivers, and James of Milwaukee, and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral chapels where memorial services will be conducted for the family and the Knights of Columbus at 8 o’clock this Monday evening.
