A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Julius A. and Nancy Ann (Ballew) Smith, he was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, a retired employee of Lyman Printing and Finishing, and a member of Duncan Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Michael David Smith of Duncan; a daughter Deborah Waits of Duncan; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Wood Mortuary conducted by Minister Dane Waggoner. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
