Willie Wade Ackiss was the son of Claudius and Willie Bruce Ackiss. In 1931 he married Eva Gladys Flanagan, daughter of William Wilbur Flanagan and Eva Stevens King Flanagan in Princess Anne County (now the City of Virginia Beach).

Moyock N.C. --Willie Wade Ackiss Sr., 66, the husband of Mrs. Eva Gladys Flanagan Ackiss and a native of Princess Anne County, Va., died Wednesday night in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
He was a retired mechanic for A. Wrenn & Son Inc,, and a member of Creeds (Va) Church of Christ.
Other survivors include three daughters Mrs. Ethel Steeley of Florida and Mrs. Edith White of Chesapeake, Va., and Mrs. Eva Gladys Fulcher of Norfolk; four sons, Willie W. Ackiss Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., John Henry Ackiss of Jacksonville, Fla., and Guy Wilson Ackiss and Carl Wayne Ackiss of Moyock; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Johannes of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Mrs. Virgie Waterfield and Mrs. Lillie Whitehurst of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Elizabeth Benge of Norfolk and Mrs. Amy Clinkscales of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Also two brothers, Millard W. Ackiss of Virginia Beach and Melvin Ackiss of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Va. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
