Dana Elmer Bowman, 86, 1925 King Springs Road, Johnson City, died Monday, October 28, 1996, at his home.
Mr. Bowman was a native of Butler and had lived in Johnson City since 1942. He was a son of the late David Clayton Bowman and Deliah Smith Bowman and was also preceded in death his step-mother, an infant son, and a brother.
Survivors include his wife, Danford Grace Bowman, five daughters, Helen Argenbright, Chris Lowe, Cara Moss and Jayne Brogdon, all of Johnson City, and Sue Rowland, Jonesborough; two sons, David Bowman, Edgewater, MD, and Bill Bowman, Johnson City; two sisters, Bonnie Hensley, Lenoir City, and Lida McGhee, Elizabethton; and two brothers, Don bowman and Carroll Bowman, both of Mountain City. Eighteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Dana Elmer Bowman, 86 will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday from the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Reece Harris officiating. Interment will follow graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery for committal services. Pallbearers will be the following grandsons: David Bowman, Bryan Bowman, Todd Lowe, Terry Lowe, Jonathan Herrmann, Dana Bowman, Andrew Brogdon, Benjamin Rowland and Scott Harvey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sinking Creek Baptist Church Youth Fund, 435 Matson Road, Jonesborough, Tenn., 37659. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
