David Graven Family Injured In Car Accident

Mr. and Mrs. David Graven and their three children sustained injuries in a two-car accident on-half mile east of Nora Springs on Highway 18 about 4:40 Sunday afternoon in a blinding snow. The Graven family was enroute to their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, following an Easter visit with David's parents, Judge and Mrs. Henry Graven, in Greene.
Mrs. David (Arlene) Graven, 36, was listed in poor condition Monday at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. She received chest and head injuries.
The car, driven by Mr. Graven, 36, allegedly skidded on a slush-covered curve, went out of control and collided with a car driven by Clellan L. Wides, 33, of Marion.
Mr. Graven is in fairly good condition with lacerations of the face and chest and knee abrasions. The three Graven children are in fair condition. Kari suffered a fractured left thigh and Kathryn and Mark have lacerations and bruises.
Mr. Wides, and his wife, Jane, 31, are both in fair condition with back and chest injuries and head lacerations.
David is a law professor at the University of Minnesota. His parents, Judge and Mrs. Henry Graven, returned to Greene only a few days ago from New Orleans, Louisianna where he had served as federal judge on a special assignment.

Mrs. David (Arlene L.) Graven, 36, of Minnesota died Monday afternoon in a Mason City hospital from injuries received in a car accident April 10 near Nora Springs.
Her husband and two daughters, Kari and Kathryn, are still hospitalized. Mark, the son, was dismissed from the hospital last week.
Mrs. Graven's husband is a law professor at the University of Minnesota. They made their home at 417 Tarrymoore Avenue, Minneapolis. Her husband is the son of Judge and Mrs. Henry N. Graven of Greene
Mrs. Graven was born September 12th 1929, at Hayward, Wisconsin, daughter of Oscar and Nellie Lindholm.
Surviving are her husband, son Mark, two daughters, Kari and Kathryn; two brothers, Calvin Lindholm of Oakland, California, and Lewis Lindholm, of Hayward, Wisconsin; and her parents Mrs. and Mrs. Oscar Lindholm, of Hayward, Wisconsin.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the First Lutheran Church at Hayward, Wisconsin. Burial will be in Hayward Cemetery.
The family requested that any memorials be given to the student scholarship fund at St. Olaf College. The Major-Erickson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements in Mason City.
