Son of Charles and Emma Beebe. Graduated from the University of Vermont in the Class of 1900. Member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Married to Sarah Reed Park.

He entered the U. S. Army and served in World War I. He made the army his career, serving in various capacities until his retirement as a Brigadier General.

Awarded Distinguished Service Medal for service in World War I:

"The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Infantry) Royden E. Beebe, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I, as Chief of Staff, 82d Division; Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, 2d Division, and Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, 1st Army Corps.

General Orders: War Department, General Orders No. 59 (1921)"
