Visitation for Neil Clifford Hardcastle, 76, who died July 28 will be held today (Thursday) from 6-9 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m., also at the funeral chapel, with burial to follow in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Mr. Hardcastle, who was a Prescott resident at the time of his death, died at Boswell Hospital in Sun City.

He was a former Wickenburg resident and businessman.

He was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Monitor, Ore.

Hardcastle managed the resort at Castle Hot Springs north of Morristown for many years, and later owned the Circle K Store on Whipple Street in Wickenburg.

Neil Hardcastle was the youngest of seven sons born to Roscoe William Hardcastle and Jessie Baker Haynes. His father's parents came from England to New York State where his grandfather Hardcastle fought for the Union Army during the Civil War. His mother's family was from Virginia but moved to Michigan where his grandfather fought for the Union Army in the Civil War.

Neil was born in Monitor Oregon and spent his youth in Oregon. He joined the Navy during WWII where his rank was Radioman Third Class. He was discharged from the Navy on the Sep. 26, 1945.

Neil met Geraldine "Jerry" Harris in Lake Tahoe where they both worked in the hotel business. On the 1st of November 1949, they were married in Carson City, Nevada. They had no children of their own but would help raise their nieces and nephews through the years.

They were in the hotel business and traveled the western part of the United States. They were present at the grand opening of Jackson Lake Lodge in the Grand Tetons in 1956 and Neil became the manager of nearby Jenny Lake Lodge. Neil and Jerry eventually worked for Del Webb at his new Highway House Motels in New Mexico and Arizona. There last hotel management position before they retired was at the oldest resort in Arizona Castle Hot Springs.

Once they retired they settled down in Wickenburg Arizona where Neil had a Circle K store and Jerry had a small shop. They were lucky enough to also travel around the United States.
