Nancy Louise Money Acuff went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2012. She and her twin sister Mollie Lucille Money Givens of Memphis, Tennessee were born to Theo and Med Smith Money of Waldron, Arkansas on June 3, 1921. She met Dale Clifton Acuff of Booneville, Arkansas, who would become her devoted husband for sixty-four years, while attending Arkansas Tech College in Russellville, Arkansas. Their marriage in June of 1942 was followed by the birth of their only child, George, in October of 1943. Dale was a pilot for American Airlines for 37 years, so their marriage followed his career, from Fort Worth, to Memphis, then to Long Island, New York in 1947. They lived first in Levittown, New York, then Merrick on the south shore, then Great River in Suffolk County. Louise, nicknamed "Money" by her friends in New York, led an active life, enjoying the shows of Manhattan, the beaches and waterways of Long Island, and her membership in the Bellmore Methodist Church, playing piano for the youth choirs and singing in the adult Chancel Choir. Summers were spent plying the inland waterways of the island with friends or enjoying the sun and surf of Jones Beach. In 1965, as a part of American's relocation to DFW, Louise and Dale moved to Irving, Texas where they were among the first residents of Las Colinas and where they built their dream home on the twelfth hole of Las Colinas Country Club. Louise and Dale loved their home overlooking the course and were always going out onto the porch to wave at their friends as they passed by. Once in Texas, Louise discovered golf and she and Dale enjoyed many rounds together. She was especially proud of her hole-in-one on Number Seventeen and her involvement with the Las Colinas Women's Golf Association. Louise and Dale became long-term members and supporters of Plymouth Park United Methodist Church where there was a pew seat that seemed reserved for her. Louise was also an avid bridge player, and long after the move to Texas she would return to New York to visit her bridge buddies and attend Broadway shows. She loved to cook, especially for her many friends and her grandchildren who eagerly looked forward to her holiday feasts. Music was another passion of hers, as she played the piano for youth choirs, sang in adult ones, and played her piano and organ at parties in her home. She loved to sing and particularly liked gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister Muriel Money Baber, and Dale in 2006. Louise is survived by her son, George, daughter-in-law Karla Key Acuff, and her grandchildren, Matthew and Kathleen Acuff. She is also survived by her twin sister, her niece Molly Givens Tracy of Memphis, and nephew Mitchell Stanley Givens of Johnson City, Tennessee. Her boundless enthusiasm, energy, and love will be greatly missed; she enriched many lives. For the last five years she has been a resident of Signature Pointe on the Lake in Dallas, Texas. The family would like to thank the administration and staff at Signature Pointe for the loving care provided Louise during this period. Graveside service Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas; followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, 1615 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, TX. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Plymouth Park United Methodist Church.
