He entered the army on April 6, 1944 (my mom thinks it was at Fort Ord, CA) and he was honorably discharged on February 13, 1946 as a Pvt First Class with the 5th Infantry Regiment 71st Division. He served in the US and Germany during that time, but I don't know where. He was discharged at Fort MacArthur, CA..
He re-entered the army on August 7, 1947 with the 63rd Ordnance Co. He retired at Fort Ord on November 30, 1965 as a Master Sargent E8 with the 194th Armored Brigade.
