Robert P. Franz, 73, of 105 Homewood Road died Sunday evening September 12, 1999 at MedCentral Mansfield following an extended illness. Mr. Franz was born April 9, 1926 in Wheeling, West Virginia and has resided in the Mansfield area since 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, & was a member of USS LST #268 Association. He was employed by the Isaly Dairy Company as a regional manager for thirty years. He then opened & operated Roberts Cafeteria for 23 years and was known by many as 'Mr. Roberts'. Surviving are his wife, Christine Stropoli Franz; a son & daughter-in-law, Robert L. & Julie L. Franz of Mansfield; three daughters, Jane L. Franz of Ft. Myers, Florida, Barbara J. Crider of Mansfield, & Patricia L. Franz & her husband, Jeffrey Carlson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandsons, Ben & Brady Franz, Jason, Matt, & Jeremy Crider; two brothers, Stewart Franz of Clarksburg, West Virginia & Lee Franz of Wheeling, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Lillian Kope Franz, and an infant sister. Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday September 15, 1999 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 16, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress. Burial will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date.
