James H. Guffey, Sr, age 66 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 22, 2013. He was born in Hazard on January 3, 1947 to Red and Sophie (Hamilton) Guffey. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1970 he married Sylvia Feltner. James worked at Champion Paper for over 40 years. He managed a little league team for several years in East Hamilton. James became a Deacon of Crestmont Baptist Church. He was a member and an officer of the AmVets Post 2012. His true love was racing.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Guffey; sons, James H.(Corry A.) Guffey, Jr. and Christopher O. (Robin L.) Guffey; grandchildren, Christian J., Ashley M., Noah J. and Sophie A.; brothers, Donald (Judy) and Paul (Helen); a special niece, Pamela (Bo) Saylor; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ima Jean, Judy C. and Faye; and numerous aunts and uncles. The family wishes to express their gratitude and admiration for Hospice of SW Ohio.

Visitation will be 5-8pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue. Funeral service will be 10am, Wednesday, June 26, 2013, also at the funeral home on Pershing Avenue, with Pastor Joel Riehle officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the "James Guffey Memorial Fund" c/o any US Bank.
