William J. "Bill" Spence, 93 formerly of Princeton passed away, Monday Oct. 14, 2013 at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington, IN.
He had lived in Bloomington for the past 4 years having previously lived in Speedway and Lafayette IN and Ft. Myers FL.
He was born in Princeton, June 8, 1920 to Samuel Mumford and Edna May (Herschell) Spence.
He had been a lifetime Civil Service Employee of the Federal Government.
Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during W.W.II serving in England and France. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Prince Masonic Lodge #231 and the American Legion.
He is survived by 2 sons, Michael Scott (Lynn) Spence of Miramar, FL and Dr. W. Craig Spence of Bloomington, 2 grandchildren Jennifer Lynn Matthews and Sean Patrick Spence, 5 great grandchildren, 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years Betty Alice (Hughes) Spence who passed away in 2007, and a brother Jack Spence.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct 17, 2013 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. David Bremer officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia "White" Church Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside services by Retired Military Veterans.
