WEST GLENVILLE — Sterling G. Vernon, 45, a machinist at the General Electric Co. for 13 years, died Monday after a short illness.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Glenville, the West Glenville volunteer fire department, and was active in the boy scouts and the parent teachers association of Glendaal school.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. M. Louise Cosman Vernon, and two children, Sterling G. Vernon Jr., and Joyce L. Vernon, West Glenville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Vernon, and three brothers, Fred, Charles, and John Vernon, all of Newburgh.
Mr. Vernon was a native of Newburgh and had lived here 13 years.
The James funeral home in Scotia will be open to friends tonight after 7 o'clock. Rev. Niles M. Poff will conduct the funeral there at 9 p.m. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery, Newburgh, tomorrow afternoon.
