Grady Burkett Rose was born to Benjamin Albert and Geneva Terry Rose. He was a member of River Road Church of Christ. Mr. Rose served four terms as Sheriff of Lawrence County, was County Commissioner, and worked in the Alabama Department of Agriculture as an investigator. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was also a farmer. His parents, and two sons, Grady Michael Rose and Timothy Edward Rose, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margie Jeane Rose; one son, Jonathan Mark Rose of Town Creek; five grandchildren, Timothy Jon-Michael Rose, Mandy Rose Barley, Nikki Rose Frost, Geneva Lang Rose, and Ashley Leanne Rose; one daughter in-law, Jenny Holmes Rose of Hartselle; two sisters, Shirley Rose Brackin of Priceville and Dorothy Rose Sellers of Decatur and three great-grand children.
