Lois Kennedy Nichols, 79, went to be with her Lord August 6, 2005. She was a native of Norfolk and was the daughter of the late Sim L. and Eva Torbert Kennedy. Mrs. Nichols was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Norwood Earl Nichols. She was an active member of Azalea Garden Church of God. In earlier years, she had held membership at Cedar Road Assembly of God and at Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Mrs. Nichols is survived by a devoted son, Timothy Earl Nichols, daughter-in-law Cathy Nichols and grandson Jonathan Nichols, all of Chesapeake. She is also survived by a caring daughter, Remo Harris and a granddaughter, Megan Sievers, both of Chesapeake. In addition, Mrs. Nichols is survived by an attentive older brother, Alvin Kennedy of Portsmouth and a loving sister, Ruby Briggs of Chesapeake. Two brothers, Edward Kennedy and Joseph Kennedy are deceased. Several nieces and a great-niece have been blessed by a caring Aunt Lois. Mrs. Nichols leaves behind these and many other family members, church friends, neighbors and friends who have been touched by her over the years. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Azalea Garden Church of God in Virginia Beach with the Rev. Aubrey Maye and the Rev. W.C. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia Beach Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
