When Willie Price Keene was born on March 28, 1889, in Ivanhoe, Texas, his father, Samuel Price Keene, age 26 and his mother, Susan Victoria Haynes Keene was 27. He married Jane Collins Keene on February 28, 1909, in Fannin County, Texas. They had six children in 11 years. Grandad Keene was a very stern man. When he told us to do something like mowing the yard or cleaning the garden, we'd better do it right away. He had a very loud voice that pierced our brains and said words that we hated! Still I loved him. Grandad was a very good man who took great care of his family. He died on January 25, 1980, in Bonham, Texas, at the age of 89. He passed away at the Seven Oaks Nursing Home in Bonham, Fannin County, Texas. Granny Keene died two years later at the same nursing home. Our Granny and Grandad are both buried at Duplex Cemetery at the Duplex Baptist Church, Duplex, Fannin County, Texas, USA. No one told me or anyone my part of the Keene family, that he had passed away and we didn't get to go to his funeral or Granny Keene's either, very sad.
