Louis James Lawrence, 89, of Danville, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Colonial Manor in Danville.
He was born Dec. 9, 1923 in Attalla, Alabama to Ellie and Birtie Hopkins Lawrence. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Veronica and a son, Louis Lawrence Jr.
Surviving are his children, Jimmie (Leon) Sanger, Frank (Charyl) Lawrence, Ellie (Chuck) Montgomery and Vicki Lawrence; a special friend, Helen Ohl; his stepdaughter, Deanna (Jack) Booe and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He attended school in Etowah County, Alabama and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Heatcraft, formerly Bohn Aluminum for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
