William Woodrow Raimey was born on August 29, 1891 in Louise, Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of James Kittrell Raimey (1840–1918) and Louvella Elizabeth "Bettie" (Hunter) (Black) Raimey (1853–1914).

He served in the Special Forces Group, US Army.

When he registered for the World War II Draft William was living in Lake County, Indiana and working for the New York Central Railroad.

A locomotive engineer, William was married 1st on October 6, 1920 in Bay City, Michigan to Bessie Ruth Tait (1893–1933). He was married 2nd to Nancy Mae Underwood (1899–1981).

He passed away on June 2, 1978 in Guinnett County, Georgia and was buried in Louise United Methodist Church Cemetery in Montgomery County, Tennessee.
