Civil War records state that he served in the 5th Kansas Cavalry and did not survive the war. His death is listed in the fall of 1863. Sarah was a daughter of William & Ann Lapham, both born in England. They are buried in Saint Croix County, Wisconsin. Sarah (nee Lapham) Adgate remarried to J. H. Charitan.
