Born in Wells, NY, he was the son of the late George and Maude Craig Babcock.
Following high school he enlisted with the Navy and was placed into active service in 1941.
George served as aviation chief machinist mate aboard vessels in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations during WWII.
He was the recipient of several medals for combat and honorably discharged from the USN Air Station (1946) in Pensacola, FL.
George was married to the former Marion Priscilla Barton on April 25, 1945.
He was employed by King Cadillac-Olds in Schenectady as parts manager for many years.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Priscilla passed away in April of this year.
Survivors include two sons, three daughters, one sister, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A private service at the National Veteran Cemetery (Gerald Solomon) with military honors bestowed.
