Wasilla resident DAVID LEROY STROEBEL, 73, died Dec. 10, 2000, at Valley Hospital in Palmer. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wasilla Community Church. Private burial was at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Mr. Stroebel was born April 13, 1927, in Mt. Vernon, Wash. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and came to Alaska in June 1948. He lived in Juneau from 1948-1951, in Anchorage from 1951-1978, and in Wasilla since 1978. Mr. Stroebel worked for radio station KINY in Juneau for three years, for the Territorial Police in Anchorage for five years, and for the Federal Aviation Administration in Anchorage for 23 years, from which he retired in 1978. His family said, ''He was a man who loved his family, and his family loved him.'' Survivors are his wife, Amy Stroebel of Wasilla; daughters, Susie Stroebel and Diane Sanderlin of Wasilla; granddaughters, Dorothy Couch of Palmer and Bethany Sanderlin of Wasilla; grandsons, David and Jeremy Sanderlin of Anchorage, and Jonathan Sanderlin of Wasilla; great-grandson, David Sanderlin of Anchorage; sisters, Sue Lewis, Elizabeth Bechtol and Jo Murphy, all of Warmbeach, Wash., and Ruby Bower of Norfolk, Va.; and brother, Ted Stroebel of Reno, Nev. Memorial donations may be made to the Camp Challenge Building Fund, P.O. Box 1833, Palmer 99645. Arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory of Wasilla.
