"Arthur Stark Instantly Killed"
"Caught in Line Shaft at Buff Brick Plant and Mangled to Death Instantly"
Arthur Stark, aged almost 18 years, was instantly killed at the plant of the Buff Brick Manufacturing Co., four miles north of Neodesha, this morning at about 7:45 o'clock.
The brick plant shut down and remained shut down all today.
Young Stark worked in what is known as the mixing room. In some unaccountable manner he got so close to the line shafting that his clothes caught and he was hurled to instant death. Dr. L.L. Jones, of Altoona, was summoned but the young man was dead long before the doctor arrived. His left arm was pulled apart from his body at the shoulder, the left temple was caved in and the left leg was broken in three places. J.A. Hook was the only man present in that room when the accident occurred. He did not see Stark get into the machinery but saw him a moment later.
The young man's parents live between Neodesha and Buff City. They are Mr. and Mrs. Eli Stark, formerly of Neodesha. Mr. Stark, it will be remembered, gained quite a reputation as the man with the "eagle eye," who was able to find lost articles.
The Sun is requested to announce that Arthur Stark will be buried in Bethel cemetery, five miles northeast of Neodesha, funeral services at Bethel church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 1905, conducted by Rev. Mitchell.
Arthur Stark was a cousin of the young man killed by the cars at Gas City a few years ago.

"How Arthur Stark was Killed"
Eli Stark, father of Arthur Stark who was killed Monday at the Buff brick plant north of town, wishes the following printed:
"May 1, 1905, Arthur went to work for the Buff Brick Co. and worked as a yard hand until June 12th. By being trusty he was given a light job on the second floor in the mix room. He commenced work at 7 o'clock, being instructed at the new work to be careful of danger. At 7:45 he was caught by a belt wheel on the main shaft. One belt run from the repress on the lower floor to the main shaft; one belt run from the main shaft tot the third floor to the elevator, on belt run from the main shaft triangularly through the second floor to the circular saw; another short belt run on a level on the opposite side of where Arthur was to an emery stone. Part of Arthur's work was by the side of the main shaft, running north and south through the entire building on the second floor. By some unknown cause he was caught by the shaft and belts and in an instant was a mangled corpse."
