B. C. Dieckman, one of the most and best known prominent business men, died Friday night at 11 o'clock, at his home in Stephensport, after an illness extending through several months. He had been in rapidly failing health for sometime and death was due to a general letting down of his system.

Mr. Dieckman was born in Germany in 1843. He immigrated to this country and settled in Canada. He then resided in Illinois, Iowa and Kansas; when he came to Breckenridge County and settled on a farm about five miles from Stephensport. This was about 1890, and about two or three years ago he took up his residence in Stephensport. He owned the flour mill, at Stephensport, which was operated by his sons during his illness. He was a popular business man, a good citizen and a member of the M. E. church South.

The funeral was conducted from the Stephensport Methodist church, Monday morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. J. C. Hoskinson and the interment was in the Stephensport cemetery.

Two sisters, one in Indianapolis, Ind., and one in Pekin, Ill., his wife, and nine children survive Mr. Dieckman. The later are: Warner, John, Herman, Fred, Anna, Effie, Mattida, Mrs. Tina Morgan, and Mrs. Lena Hoover. All live about Stephensport except Mrs. Hoover who is in Kansas.
