Wife of Brigadier General Martin Edwin Green, married 27 JAN 1836 in Farquier County, Virginia.


Died.

At her daughter's residence near Colony [sic] in Knox [sic] co. on the 26th of March, 1886, of heart disease, Margaret J. Green, relict of the last Gen'l Martin E. Green, age 74 yrs.

Deceased was born in Loudon [sic] co., Va., May [sic] 31 [sic], 1812; was converted and joined the M. E. church south at the age of 12; was married to Gen'l Green in 1836, and removed to Ralls county and then to Lewis county in 1837. She was one of the pioneer Methodists of northeast Missouri aided in building the old log church, and the present new one, at Mt. Moriah, and has been a faithful and consistent member of the same for nearly half a century.
