Raymond S. Ludka, Sr., age 81, of 1112 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, December 18, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 1999, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Roman Zbieranski, O.F.M., with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto-Oas Post #659.

Raymond as born May 20, 1918, in Milwaukee County, son of the late Bernard and Alice Schaykowski Ludka. Raymond served in the United State Army with the 61st Coast Artillery at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, from 1936-1939. He served as a veteran of World War II, with the United States Air Force, from 1942-1946. He also served with the Naval Reserve from 1959-1960. On October 14, 1939, he married the former Julia Pozorski, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Julia preceded in death on October 17, 1964. Ray was employed as a baker at Dick Bros Bakery for 18 years, retiring in 1980. After his retirement, he was also employed as a security guard for Mirro Aluminum Company from 1981-1990. Ray was a member of the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie #76.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert and Deborah Ludka, Greenville, Wis., Ronald and Jean Ludka, Ladysmith, Wis., Roger Ludka, North Aurora, Illinois., Delphine Ludka Fritz, Sheboygan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jo Ann and Tom Boyson, Oshkosh, Jane Ludka, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Irene Melloch, Milwaukee, Rosalie and Gail Newkirk, Spokane, Wash.; two step sisters, Blanche Fredrick, Toledo, Ohio, Irene and John Mellender, Annaheim, Calif. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Raymond was also preceded in death by one son, Raymond Ludka, Jr.; two brothers, Eugene and Valentin Ludka; and an infant brother, Stanley.

The family will greet relatives and friends Wednesday morning, at St. Mary Catholic Church, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Our special thanks goes out to the friends that made his days brighter. Raymond always thought of others that past before him, by saying "May the Perpetual Light Shine Upon You". In loving memory of Raymond S. Ludka, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Ray was a very loving an devoted father to his children. He enjoyed playing the organ for many years. He was our father, our mother, and our best friend. He will be dearly missed.
