Janet Gayle McFatridge, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 12:45am Monday October 21, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1931 in Wilmington, OH to the late Joseph Leon and Mildred (Cox) Williamson. On September 14, 1957, in Wilmington, OH, she was married to James C. McFatridge who survives.
Janet was a 1949 graduate of Wilmington High School. As her children grew older she worked as a secretary for Kokomo Schools. Before retiring, she was secretary to the Athletic Director at Kokomo High School.
Janet enjoyed cooking, reading, playing bridge and was an avid sports fan. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter DM, member of the Kokomo Country Club for more than 50 years, and a founding member of the Woodhaven Neighborhood Watch.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James C. McFatridge; daughters, Jody (Chris) Moody, Naples, FL. and Julie (John) Rethlake, Kokomo; a grandson, Andrew J. Smith, Washington D.C., as well as three nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan Hill; and one niece.
Private funeral services will be held at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Janet's name to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
