C. Dale Hawkins, 63, Norman, Oklahoma, owner and operator of Dale's Office Supply, died Thursday morning in St. Anthony's Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday in McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Phil Fenn officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery with Primrose Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born November 12, 1919, in Carnegie, Hawkins was reared in Norman. He graduated from Norman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma for three years. He entered the office supply business in Norman in 1952. He was a B-29 pilot in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Air Medal with four clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross with two clusters. He completed a tour of duty on Guam and then served during the Korean War. Hawkins served as president of the Norman Kiwanis in 1958, the Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Retail Credit. He has served on the board of directors of the First National Bank, Cable TV and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church, the Shriners, and was a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors include two sons, Douglas Carey of Norman and Dr. Calvin Dale, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; his mother, Dycie Hawkins of Norman; three sisters, Thelma Segnar of Cedar Ridge, Arkansas, Marie Van Schuvyer of Tahlequah and Wilma Hayter of Borger, Texas; a brother, Frank of Houston, Texas; and six grandchildren. Bearers will be Bobby Davis, B.K. Fowler, Lyndol Hall, Lewis McCall, Melvin McElroy and Dwain Powell. Honorary bearers will be Harold Belknap, Tom Blenkinsop, Jim Dickinson, Bert Hodges and Bill Morgan. The family has designated the American Heart Association or the Cancer Society as appropriate for memorial contributions.
