He was born to William Randall and Mary Petras Kridler on January 8, 1936 in the Dilworth Community. He attended school in Dilworth before moving with his family to Gonzales where he attended the Gonzales Schools until the nineth grade and moved to Shiner where he graduated from high school in 1954. He excelled in football with the Shiner Comanches, football program and went on to play football for Texas Luthern College. Through the years he has worked for the Texas Highway Department, Kaspar Wire Works, Boyson's Food Market, Low Trucking, Harrell Cattle Company, Astrobar, Cal-Maine, he owned and operated Poochy's Fried Chicken from 1961-1981. In his early years Poochy was an avid competitor in steer roping events where he could either head or heel rope steers and he played men's league softball and was a passionate player of cards and dominoes.
Poochy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cornelia Fay "Connie" Brown Kridler of Gonzales; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Scott Erwin of Buda; sons and daughter-in-law, Randle Eugene "Gene" Kridler, Jr. and wife Jackie of Gonzales and Joseph clement "Poochy" Kridler of Gonzales; grandchildren, Gena Marie Kridler, Trey Kridler, Kaler Erwin, Hannah Erwin, and Maren Erwin.
He is also survived by a very special loving friend and daughter, Leslie Bird and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Oct. 4, 2005 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednsday, October 5, 2005 at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Eric Ritter and Rev. Jay Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Hermann sons Cemetery.
